I get asked so many questions about our modular fixtures and the CNC workholding components inside them by curious CNC machinists and programmers. It really comes down to two main questions.
How do I use them?
How will they help me?
That's why we created a little plastic modular fixture that we can provide to you as a demo kit. It has many of the basic elements of a full-sized modular fixture in it. This gives you the ability to actually test the fixture out and quick-change something yourselves!
Let me walk you through the demo kit.
The demo kit contains:
Invert-A-Bolt™ Fasteners
The Invert-A-Bolt™ Fasteners in this kit are our acrylic giveaway fasteners. The Invert-A-Bolt™ Fasteners is used to hold the part from the bottom, eliminate obstructions to machining, and to drastically reduce setup times.
Zipbushing™ Precision Threaded Locator Bushings
The ZipBushing™ Precision Threaded Locator Bushing is our patent-pending multi-purpose hole. You would use this for Dowel Pins, Shoulder Screws, Screws, and our Xzertz™ Retractable Dowel Pin.
Retractable Dowel Pins
The Xzertz™ Retractable Dowel Pin are used for location and designed to go in and out of the hole, meaning they are always located in the fixture, and ready to pop-up whenever you need them. They can be used in the slot or in the ZipBushing™ Precision Threaded Locator Bushing
The modular fixture also has locating divots that we call Livots™.
Livots
We have included the T-Slot Fasteners which slide in and out of the T-Slots and perform the same task as the venerable Invert-A-Bolt™ Fasteners.
T-Slot Fasteners
The T-Slot Fasteners come in two sizes 16mm & 18mm. In this case, we are using 16mm T-Slot Fasteners.
What's great about this modular fixture demo kit is that is a hybrid between a standard grid modular fixture and T-Slot fixture.
All in all, this kit will allow you to show your team members how these workholding components work!
